Apples and Autumn

On Saturday, Phill and I went with my mom and dad up to the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Ft. Wayne. I was super excited because I love festivals yet I had somehow managed to never go to the JAF (as it shall hence be known) before! My dad was SUPER excited, however, because his bagpipe gang was playing. I love that my dad has this hobby. Also, did you see that dagger in the sock?! These guys (and gals) are pretty rad. I had apple cider and an apple dumpling with cinnamon ice cream so I was happy. Phill had homemade root beer. We all enjoyed the beautiful transition weather.

Autumn is so beautiful, right?

Winter Hike

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to go hiking at Thunderbird Park with two girlies from work {and their doggies!)}. It was so nice to enjoy some time with these ladies outside of our usual environment. I mean, wouldn't you prefer to hang out with cool people free from the threat of call lights, poop, pee, and isolation gowns bogging you down? I thought so.

The past couple days have been oddly wet around these parts. Monday-rain. Monday night-rain. Tuesday-rain. Luckily, the rain subsided long enough for us to enjoy some outdoor time.

As you can see, someone before us had even left some holiday cheer behind for us to discover!
Happy Hump Day!

25

You guys.

I have been dreading this day for months now, but today was actually quite wonderful!

Fun-filled evening with friends last night!
Sleeping in this morning!
Margot cuddles!
Legitimate Autumn weather!
Many phone calls and messages!
Cry-worthy packages!
Successful craftiness!
Christmas music because I can!
Delicious and obscure Thai birthday dinner!

I was smiling SO MUCH today. My heart is so full. Full right up to the very brim. Who cares if I'm getting older?! Adulthood? What??? Nah, we'll just chill here in the middle...wherever this is...and pretend we have no responsibilities and concerns. Good plan, huh?

Most of the day was spent by myself as Phillip was in Tucson for an ultimate frisbee tournament. Initially, I thought I would be bored and just spend the day catching up on Parenthood, but once the day actually arrived and I realized God had gifted me beautiful sunshine and cooler temperatures I knew I had to get out and accomplish something today. Enter phone dates and Jo-Ann Fabrics!

I received all these treasures in a package from my parents. I tell ya, my mom really knows what makes my heart tick. After my griping over a lack of Autumn in Arizona I can now smell true Autumn straight from Mom & Dad's home! Plus, I get to taste the yumminess of buckeyes from The Party Shop!

I'm so proud. Yes, it's a simple design but I made it! The original design doesn't have any pockets or anything, but I intended to use some of the excess fabric to get some pockets on the inside. Welp, that didn't happen. I was so intent on making sure I didn't screw something up that I didn't want to add the pocket at the wrong time or add it on the wrong side! I'll consider this the trial run. I feel like I have finally swung the DIY door wide open. My sewing machine and I grew closer today =)

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely birthday wishes! You have no idea how much I appreciate your words!

Autumn in Arizona

Whilst on my commute to work for a class this morning, I couldn't help but feel robbed, jipped, ripped off, denied, & conned out of AUTUMN. I know all the rest of you in the throws of Autumnal weather are all, "Shut your mouth you lucky biotch with your countless sunny days and lovely temps!". I get it. BUT! I can't help but miss it. Plus, my wardrobe is pretty limited when anything that covers you up is off limits. I'm tired of shorts, and I'd like to throw some tights under my dresses, thank you very much.

*Not Autumn in Arizona
~sigh~

For now, I'll just continue to fake it by drinking loads of apple cider, burning pumpkin and harvest scented candles, and {if the hubs allows at least for a little bit} keeping the apartment cool enough so I can wear sweats and cuddle up with Margot. Oh yeah, and cuddle with Phill, too, sure. =)

Today Is For...

  • Sleeping in
  • Breaking out the leggings again because it's not too hot!
  • Unexpected sweet $1 tag sale at Goodwill
  • Yelling at noisy dogs {oy vey!}
  • Trying out new liquid eyeliner

  • FIRST BIKE RIDE OF THE SEASON! It's about to happen. I'll take pics :-)
  • Grey's Anatomy,  Parks and Recreation, The Office, Jersey Shore {don't judge!}
*EDIT: I did not take bike ride pics. I didn't want to lug the camera with me while working it hard core! It was amazing being outside, though!

Changing Seasons

You guys.

Phoenix is so perfect right now. Sunny {duh}, breezy, and the temps have dropped to a blissful level. We're talking, my windows are open, fans are blowing and relaxing has never been so easy. The sad bit...apparently it won't last too long. Next week = warmer, but it'll go back down!

Today, it's me and the dogs again. We've got Henry patrol and the two pups are back to their old antics.

Margot gives so much sass.

Also, check out my lovely bruise as it has evolved since the initial injury on Sunday. I say "initial injury" because, obviously, I keep hitting the same spot over and over now.
YIKES

Happy Hump Day!

End of Sedona, Beginning of Vacation #2!

View from our balcony anniversary dinner

I love him so much. I am such a blessed woman.

Jerome, AZ aka "The Hills Have Eyes". Ok, only joking.

Studly McGee. He's MINE, ladies.

"What's up? I've been sweating for 9 weeks straight!"

Inside a kaleidoscope! Isn't this awesome?

All you Indiana friends and family, I hope to see you all at the party on Thursday!
Check the Facebook event for more details :-)

Plus, there's this lovely video!

Tuesday In Review

TODAY:
  • Went to bed at 3 {after delighting in the fact that I would be going to bed at a normal human time...lame}
  • Awoke at noon
  • Dishes
  • Prepped dinner CrockPot style {one of my favorites "styles", I must say}
  • Drove to the dump to drop off our recycling {I'm still angry that Glendale doesn't do recycling pick-up}
  • Took advantage of the extreme wind and laaaaaaaiiiiid by the pool! BEST LAY OUT EVER. I was in lazy-woman bliss. I felt I was at the beach because it was a typical Phoenix sunny day, but the wind was in high gear so the heat didn't bother me a bit. Another perk: I was one of the only ones at the pool today. Sooo nice and relaxing.
  • Final preps to dinner...plus making some puppy chow :-)
  • Shower and make-up play time
  • Nice Jesus and friend time at Verge

Lazy Monday Evening

It's been a weird day. Did your Monday go as normal or was it funky like mine?
  • I slept in like crazy, but never felt very well rested
  • To accompany the unrest, I had a funky not-severe-but-still-annoying headache
  • My emotions seemed muted. I really didn't care too much what happened today.
  • After deciding not to do, well, much of anything, I got dressed and...did things: Stop by church, revisit our soon-to-be-new-home complex, drop off recycling to the landfill that closed 20 minutes before I arrived {annoyed}, return items to library, pick up dishes from our friends {we brought them dinner last week since they just had a baby!}, drop off clothes at Goodwill, & make dinner
  • After dinner we watched some TV
  • After TV...nothing. There was mention of watching a movie, but after no decision on a film was made neither of us made a real effort and I just continued to surf the blogisphere while Phillip fell asleep

 Weird.

Margot pillow

I love that little face to pieces

He fell asleep like this...at 8:30PM

Yes, I looked this 80's all day. Yes, I completed the look with leggings. Whatever. The hair resulted because I had already made the executive decision NOT to wash my hair. Therefore, the bangs had to go back in the scarf and the rest in a pony.
Tonight, I find myself wishing I lived somewhere where I could truly enjoy the beginning of Spring. Here, we're basically just transitioning from Spring to SUMMER. It was refreshing, however, to have a cool, rainy weekend. Aaahhhhhh I loved it sooo!

Here, my lack-of-Springtime-therapy:
